ZTE Blade S6 Review

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 - ZTE

ZTE is no stranger to these heights. They have been many years with us and it has always done so with a very discreet profile. They have never wanted to enter the fight to have the best mobile market, its strategy has been based on known, become telephone operators and compete for the price. At least away from home because China are very serious. East 2015 the situation will begin to change, the Chinese manufacturer has ready a terminal with a stronger profile to us: ZTE Blade S6.

By specifications, we are faced with a mid-range terminal of which we have already spoken on occasion. Now, finally we know that it will come here to compete in one of the most hotly contested leagues: of all those phones between 200 and 350 euros, seeking to prove to be substantially better than the input. After meeting the proposal from Samsung in its day with the Galaxy A5, is time to analyse and see what is capable more powerful ZTE phone to date… outside of China.

So far, when we saw a mobile ZTE was meet with a hodgepodge of specifications of the heap that almost never inspired anything good. All very grey, without nothing to highlight. This time they have decided to give a step forward and bet on a brighter and more attractive on the table hardware.

ZTE has made a good choice in some components that are key to ensure the good to make a phone. On the one hand we have the processor Snapdragon 615, majority choice of mid-range phones and to be offers eight cores and 64-bit with sufficient strength to withstand with all kinds of applications.

Its 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage are on the line and demonstrate that ZTE has a very serious contender. They have chosen the best possible partner for camera: Sony. At the rear we find a sensor IMX214, which assembles One Plus One, Honor 6 or 7-Matt Ascend. That Yes, although the choice is very good not bad remember that it is not everything in a camera, processing software is equally important.

ZTE based on a good foundation with its Blade S6, choose the best possible partners and the combination is good. Now, it is time to go point-by-point to see if all those good intentions welded to the inside of the phone really give the size or not.

So far, ZTE had phones where the design was not strong. They were functional, but they didn’t have anything that would make them really attractive. This transformation that you are talking about starts on the outside of the terminal. Finishes are many more care and shows that they have put more mimo in factor form.

Comfortable in hand, transmitting feels pleasant to the touch. Slightly rounded corners to improve grip and fairly slender (7.7 mm) for a terminal that draws attention both in the photos live. In the choice of materials, that Yes, we still don’t see a jump to more noble components and continue with a very functional and pretty good looking plastic. Chrome frames played a give metallic feeling that we would have in other phones but it is not annoying.

Steps forward in design, but also with some aspects in which there is still room for improvement. The front, for example, demonstrates maturity in the sober design, elegant with very fine sidebars but with some horizontal frames quite wide. Despite everything, you leave with a ratio screen body of 67.7%. The buttons are touch virtual and the central serves as a LED for notifications.

The buttons give the feeling of being somewhat soft and, to my taste, those of volume could sink a little more. It is curious that in the two slots which has to insert SIM and microSD decides to bet by signaling with two icons at the side of the phone. Taking into account that they are handled so much, I have no clear find it convenient to emphasize it much.

If we turn to the terminal we have a more dull finish and leaving a little warm. You don’t have as much personality as the front and the feeling that transmits is something generic. Works, the metallic finish on plastic is good looking but missing claw. No slides, but to be so discreet will probably want him put a case to give you a little more than color to the terminal.

ZTE has taken a step forward in design to improve from year to year. If we compare it with the Blade L2, the jump is important: finest finishes, details more carefully… Blade S6 is attractive and although there are aspects that can be improved a little still, must recognize its good to do in this section. Plastic, matter despite who is a good choice and the price which will go on sale is difficult to find similar specifications with metallic body.

For many manufacturers, make the leap from a TFT panel to an IPS LCD has been crucial. For Sony was at the time when I finally decided to change the technology of its screens. Now same thing happens to a ZTE giving fully in the election but not so much in the resolution: 720 p falls a little short in a range where is becoming more common to see phones Full HD.

The screen, that Yes, it is a quality panel you see perfectly at any angle of view and where the light losses are very small when you turn the screen horizontally or vertically. The front glass is not especially thick and does not produce many reflexes when we are outdoors. The color space is quite large but the temperature is not the most appropriate. With white, you can see that a little yellowing.
