ASUS Zenfone 3 Review
If until recently the “maximum” that ASUS went upper-middle economic range was in making, this end 2016 the company wanted to push further on achieving a real top of the line (even in the price). Find out if it lived up to. Making Zenfone 3 Deluxe is definitely a nice surprise and reflects the high quality that ASUS want to convey in your smartphone. We, inside a drawer, a USB cable-USB Type-C, a power supply 9V/2A and a couple of good in-ear headphones with various adapters. Zenfone 3 Deluxe is a smartphone as important as size, but in its own way quite compact considering the size of the display. Brings with it some characteristic features of the ASUS design, going though to “stretch hands” on some other stylistic element of competition. The result is still a very elegant product and extremely well built. Beautiful matte brushing back and likewise also the circular design elements under the front glass. In your hand is slightly slippery, but mainly because of its size.
ASUS does not wanted to hold for this Zenfone 3 Deluxe. We have a Snapdragon processor 820 (SIN arrives to us the variant 821) 15GHz, with 2 quad core GPU Adreno 530 6 GB RAM and well. We finally 64 GB of internal memory expandable using microSD. It is not marketed by us the variant dual SIM, being in fact sold exclusively with Italian brand TIM. Good: LTE connectivity up to 600 Mbps, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth dual-band 4.2 ac and also NFC.
This finally led notification and good speaker positioned at the bottom of the phone. The fingerprint reader is on the back: precise and fast enough in unlocking it. We close with a sour note: backlit buttons (but not centered vertically) below the display faster operations don’t react promptly when you press them.
The main camera has a resolution of well 23 megapixels and is equipped with a dual led flash, autofocus and a dual-tone laser even the optical image stabiliser. Overall the picture is good in virtually every context and especially with good light you will get the best out of this sensor. It is not perfect and we get sometimes different shots despite being taken in moments. Likewise certain shots are too slow and can generate motion blur. The software is still meeting with a great deal of shooting modes. Among these we mention the auto HDR, HDR Pro (or “manual”), manual mode, animated GIFs or videos in slow motion.
Speaking of video you can record up to 4 k at 30 fps but unfortunately there is no continuous focus during the video. A pretty boring for a top of the range. It is still in the videos that the optical image stabilization to its best, with video always very stable. Well even the 8-megapixel front camera.
Definitely good 5.7 inch SuperAMOLED wide display with Full HD resolution. Though perhaps by a diagonal so wide we expected to arrive until QuadHD display of Zenfone Deluxe 3 remains one of the best for brightness, contrast and viewing angles. Well even the auto brightness. Has the ability to change display colors or enable a mode filter blue light for reading.
There are no special news in the software of this Zenfone 3 Deluxe which is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The ZENUI 3.0 has the same peculiarity seen previously on other smartphone ASUS. We speak mainly of a high level of customization (which is almost impossible to find on other launcher of firms) with the ability to change every aspect of your Visual and functional phone, even going to remove the drawer of applications, or by changing completely all with a custom theme. Always present hand mode and various applications ASUS more or less useful as a MiniMovie to make small movies from photos and pictures, PhotoCollage and many other software devoted mainly to multimedia part.
This browser is Chrome with good performance, while the various media apps like music and Gallery are provided directly by ASUS. Overall it’s a good suite of applications, although there are also some preinstalled apps too. Whereas TIM is the only version available in Italy you will find various operator app, but of course you can easily remove them.

3000 mAh battery of this smartphone does not shine for the autonomy that it has to offer. There are various ways of using energy, but overall it will be difficult to get through the day with heavy use. Luckily we encounter rapid charging. ASUS Zenfone Deluxe 3 is sold in Italy in 699€. The price is commensurate with the hardware but not the overall smartphone to to offer. There are definitely more interesting solutions to lower introductory price.
